LET ME INFUSE MY PEACE.....

Come, sit, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of the Lord: "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice."  Ephesians 4:31

Let me infuse My Peace into your innermost being.  As you sit quietly in the Light of My Presence, you can sense Peace growing within you.  This is not something that you accomplish through self-discipline and willpower: it is opening yourself to receive My blessing.

In this age of independence, people find it hard to acknowledge their neediness.  However, I have taken you along a path that has highlighted  your need for Me:  placing  you in situations where your strengths were irrelevant and your weaknesses were glaringly evident.  Through the aridity of those desert marches, I have drawn  you closer and closer to Myself.  You have discovered flowers of Peace blossoming in the most desolate places.  You have learned to thank Me for hard times and difficult journeys, trusting that through them I accomplish My best work.  You have realized that needing Me is the key to knowing Me intimately, which is the gift above all gifts.

LEARN TO ENJOY LIFE MORE...

Come, sit, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of the Lord:  "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice."  Ephesians 4:31

Learn to enjoy life more.  Relax, remembering that I am God with you.  I crafted you with enormous capacity to know Me and enjoy My Presence.  When My people wear sour faces and walk through their lives with resigned rigidity, I am displeased.  When you walk through a day with childlike delight, savoring every blessing, you proclaim your trust in Me, your ever-present Shepherd.  The more you focus on My Presence with you, the more fully you can enjoy life.  Glorify Me through your pleasure in Me.  Thus you proclaim My Presence to the watching world.

TAKE TIME TO BE STILL....

Come, sit, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of the Lord:  "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice."  Ephesians  4:31

Take time to be still in My Presence.  The more hassled you feel, the more you need this sacred space of communion with Me.  Breathe slowly and deeply.  Relax in My holy Presence while My Face shines upon you.  This is how you receive My Peace, which I always proffer to you.

Imagine the pain I feel when My children tie themselves up in anxious knots, ignoring My gift of Peace.  I died a criminal's death to secure this blessing for you.  Receive it gratefully; hide it in your heart.  My Peace is an inner treasure, growing within you as you trust in Me.  Therefore, circumstances cannot touch it.  Be still, enjoying Peace in My Presence.

TRUST ME AND REFUSE TO WORRY....

Come, sit, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of the Lord:  "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice."  Ephesians 4:31

Trust me and refuse to worry, for I am your Strength and Song.  You are feeling wobbly this morning, looking at difficult times looming ahead, measuring them against your own strength.  However, they are not today's tasks - or even tomorrow's.  So leave them in the future and come home to the present, where you will find Me waiting for you.  Since I am your Strength, I can empower you to handle each task as it comes.  Because I am your Song, I can give you Joy as you work alongside Me.

Keep bringing your mind back to the present moment.  Among all My creatures, only humans can anticipate future events.  This ability is a blessing, but it becomes a curse whenever it is misused.  If you use your magnificent mind to worry about tomorrow, you cloak yourself in dark unbelief.  However, when the hope of heaven fills your thoughts, the Light of My Presence envelopes you.  Though heaven is future, it is also present tense.  As you walk in the Light with Me, you have one foot on earth and one foot in heaven.

Your Best Weapon Against Satan

Come, sit, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of the Lord:  "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice."  Ephesians  4:31

Satan has no recourse to your personal testimony. So your best weapon against his attacks is a good memory!

Don’t forget a single one of God’s blessings. He forgives your sins—every one.  He heals your diseases—every one. He redeems you from hell—and saves your life. He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown. He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence. Create a trophy room in your heart, place a memory on the shelf. Before you face a challenge, take a quick tour of God’s accomplishments. Look at all the paychecks he’s provided, all the blessings he’s given, all the prayers he’s answered.

Imitate the shepherd boy David. Before he fought Goliath, the giant, he remembered how God had helped him kill a lion and a bear. Face your future by recalling God’s victories!

Mahanaim - The Angel Bands!

Come, sit, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of the Lord:  "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice."  Ephesians  4:31

" . . . and the angels of God met him.  And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host:  and he called the name of that place Mahanaim (or "Bands").  Genesis  32:1,2

Jacob, after many trials and a long absence, was finally homeward bound to Canaan.  Twenty years before, as he had passed that same way going in the opposite direction, he had seen a wondrous vision of angels ascending and descending upon a heavenly ladder, and had been given some exceedingly great and precious promises.  Now as he journeys he receives a new pledge of God's protecting presence and blessing as the angels again meet him and gather in a guardian band around him.  He realizes that they have been especially sent to aid and defend him in his hour of coming crisis.  What a thrill it must have been to his heart to know that God was still leading and encamping round about him with His protecting angelic hosts.

Alexander McLaren makes a practical application concerning this beautiful event in the life of Jacob as follows:  "It is in the path where God has bade us walk that we shall find the angels round us.  We may meet them, indeed, on paths of our own choosing, but it will then be the sort of angel that Balaam met, with a sword in his hand, mighty and beautiful, but wrathful too; and we had better not oppose him!  But, the friendly helpers, the emissaries of God's love, the apostles of His grace, do not haunt the roads that we make for ourselves."  In God's way, however, we can expect angelic protection.

Not only do the angels do service for us in this life, as they did for Jacob (Hebrews  1:14), but they also bear our souls to Glory when our earthly sojourn here comes to an end (Luke  16:22).  Christians, therefore, may well call the time of their death,  "Mahanaim" - for it is then in a special way that the angels of God meet them!

No Interest

Come, sit, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of the Lord:  "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice."  Ephesians  4:31

"Yea, I think it meet . . . .to stir you up."  2 Peter 1:13

An elderly lady was once leaving a missionary rally in the company of a young woman.  One who was close enough to listen to their conversation was surprised to hear the young girl say rather flippantly,  "I just can't get interested in missions!"  "Well, dearie,"  said the sweet old lady,  "tisn't to be expected you would - yet awhile.  It's just like getting interest in a bank.  You have to put in a little something first or you'll never have any!  The more you put in, the more you'll get out of it.  Try it, dearie, just put in a little something and you're sure of the interest."  The old lady's philosophy was simple, but true.  If you lack interest in something, it is probably because you have put very little into it.  You say you can find no pleasure in Bible study, but have you ever sat down with a concordance and the Scripture and cross-checked the proof text on a given subject?  Have you ever read the book of Psalms until you came to some promise that comforted you, and then meditated and rested upon that choice blessing until your soul had drawn all the spiritual honey out of it and your heart overflowed with the sweet nectar of praise?  Have you ever completely read a book of the Bible at one sitting so that you could get the entire sense of its message?  If not, no wonder you have no interest!

You say you can stir up little enthusiasm for soul winning or personal work, but have you ever tried to speak to someone or really worked at showing others the love of Christ?  Have you ever volunteered or spent time visiting the poor and / or needy?  If not, it's no wonder you have "no interest."
